Every extra Maven repository configured in a pom (even a transitive pom) slows down the build a bit, because Maven checks every configured repository for artifacts. Also, the use of non-standard Maven repositories (or at least their contents) makes a project ineligible for Maven Central deployment.
We have three non-snapshot repositories configured (besides our own):
https://repository.jboss.org/nexus/content/groups/public/ (jboss artifacts, originally for seam)
http://repo.bodar.com (TotallyLazy FP library)
We should see if we can eliminate them, both to speed up dependency resolution, improve build reliability, and maybe even get Zanata Server artifacts zanata.war deployed to Maven Central (which would solve some hosting problems).
