Zanata should provide a per-language project list with a sortable completion rate column

Won't Do

Description

Description of problem:

In Transifex, for a given language, it was possible to have the list of all projects managed by an instance, with a column giving the completion rate for that language, sortable by name and by completion rate, on one page (easier to use browser Search than to browse by clicking Next Page).

That would become a language dashboard, which would interesting to have for:

  • translators: where can I find bigger projects that need love, or small low hanging fruits (a few strings to translate)

  • language coordinators: identify where to put a focus on, and which easy projects to dispatch to new translators.

Ideally, there should be a tick box (as in the editor) to show/hide the completed projects to avoid being polluted by already completed projects.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

All

How reproducible:

Always

Actual results:

No such language dashboard exist

Expected results:

Have a language dashboard, which could be linked from the /language/list page, along with the team management.
Additional info worth to have on this project list

  • link to resources to translate for the language

  • % of completion

  • nb of hours for completion

  • with or without direct links to resources (e.g. project view or project and resources view, unfolded, having to click to unfold is always cumbersome)

This feature will be replaced by Organisation and language team dashboard.

Hi Jerome,

Thanks for the feedback.

There are three parts to a solution for this:

1. Groups

Currently, as a workaround you could add all projects to a single group. The group page would allow you to list all projects per language. Groups are groups of project versions, as we don't currently have a concept of "default" version which allows to see stats from the project level/

2. Organisations

This is something we are looking at implementing in the future and this type of feature would make most sense inside an organisation.

3. Global Browse

The projects, groups and languages listing pages are due for an overhaul. I have been playing with a single "Browse" screen which would also allow you to do some of things you mentioned, with a focus on helping translators find new projects to work on. Here is an early prototype. Categories and sorting would need to be worked out, and we would need the concept of default version, but this is the direction I am looking at.

Hopefully, the groups work around will help for now, until we get the other 2 tasks completed. I'd love to get your feedback on the above proposals and any additional details you may have about your use case.
